There’s nothing like the feeling of cleaning your car windows to optimum clarity, except for maybe cleaning your glasses, if you wear them. If you take your car to a car wash you usually don’t have to worry about cleaning the outside, but you should know how to clean the inside yourself. Continue reading for 3 tips on cleaning the inside of your car’s windows.
If you just washed the outside of your car, don’t use the same rags and towels to clean the inside of your car. Get fresh, clean microfiber cloths, and don’t settle for anything coarse as it can damage your glass. Microfiber isn’t just soft, it will prevent scratching and tends to prevent streaking better than other materials.
A quality glass cleaner makes a big difference. Water just won’t cut it if you want pristine visibility through your windows and windshield. Spray your microfiber cloth first, and spray a little on the spot of glass you are about to clean instead of soaking the entire window all at once. Doing this prevents dripping and keeps the distribution of cleaner more even. Ammonia-free glass cleaner is the only option here; don’t use glass cleaner with ammonia as the chemical can leave streaks when heated by direct sunlight or damage your car’s interior. Ammonia can also ruin tinted glass.
A quick visit to a hardware store, auto parts store or department store may yield you a tool that makes all of this a lot easier. You can buy window cleaning tools that are basically pivoting heads with long handles. Use one of these to get into corners and reach difficult parts of your windshield and rear glass. Sometimes you can attach your own microfiber cloths to the tool instead of needing to buy replacement cleaner heads.
With the proper tools, cleaning your car’s glass on the inside can be a simple process that yields great results!
