Unlike a lot of other automakers, BMW has been straightforward with the X1 and hasn’t changed its size or class from its inception to its current incarnation. Sure, year by year its size may change by fractions of an inch, but the BMW X1 has been a subcompact crossover SUV from when it launched in the United States 8 years ago until now. Since the whole X line already covers every size class, the X1 has no reason to be anything but a subcompact crossover SUV. Read on for some information on the exterior and interior dimensions of the 2020 BMW X1.
For a subcompact crossover, you might find the X1 is a bit longer than others. The crossover is 175.5 inches long, but only 71.7 inches wide. It stands 62.9 inches high, which may not seem like much, but it allows for 7.2 inches of ground clearance, which is more than you usually find outside of a vehicle built for off-roading. Expect a curb weight between 3600 and 3800 lbs. depending on the trim.
What Technology Features Does the 2020 BMW X1 Have?
While some vehicles change their capacity for cargo depending on the trim, that is not the case with this crossover. When all seats in the X1 are in place, you have access to 27.1 cubic feet of space to store whatever you like. To maximize this space, fold the seats down and you will be able to use a maximum of 58.7 cubic feet of cargo space instead.
How Efficient is the 2020 BMW X1 Engine?
Expect to get 41.9 inches of headroom in the front and 39.4 inches of headroom in the back due to the nearly flat roof of the X1. Those who want the legroom should use the front seats because the front row gets 40.4 inches of legroom while the rear seating row only gets 37 inches of legroom. There is nearly as much shoulder room in the front as there is in the back, by a difference of only .4 inches.
